(Top 5) Retro Mode of Transportation

(Top 5) Retro Mode of Transportation

by Dave

Our good friend Mickey over Retro Ramblings is running with this kick ass concept about top 5 things to post about weekly and I just wanted to be a part of it.

Here is our third entry ... Top 5 Retro Mode of Transportation

I purposely told myself on this one that I was going to try not to add too much "on the nose" type content. Meaning I would not pick the DeLorean (Back to the Future) , Black Trans Am (Smokey and the Bandit), Ecto-1 (Ghostbusters),  and KITT (Knight Rider) but as I said those are obvious choices and definitely worthy of a Top 5 List. I am taking an approach on this one to hit the target and maybe not go for the bulls eye with each of these. Let me know in the comments, how I did with that approach.

Early in my childhood I enjoyed the wit of Fozzy Bear and the vocal stylings of Kermit the Frog. "Moving right along" with a Bear and his Studebaker from The Muppet Movie. Bonus points for an awesome paint job by Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.

One more kid indulgence, this time admiring my favorite 1980s cartoon. I submit for your approval the Thundertank, made famous by my beloved Thundercats. "Feel the magic, Hear the roar, Thundercats are loose!"

One of my top 3 1980s movies was the awesome Buckaroo Banzai. Here we have the rocket car and with the aide of the  Oscillation Overthruster we can visit the 8th Dimension. Just be careful and don't let Lord John Whorfin get his hands on it.

Just like every geek in the galaxy I love Star Wars but if we exclude the obvious Millennium Falcon and concentrate on the mode of transport that got heroes and stormtroopers around on a planet. My fave has to be the Speeder Bikes on the planet of Endor, showcased in Return of the Jedi.

All right. so I attempted to stay away from the obvious choices but I have made the mistake on the podcast to not bring this one up and it is not going to pass by again without making this list. No other reason other than it is just so bad ass, here is the vehicle I pick every day of the week and twice on Sunday, Batman's 1989 Batmobile.
